ABOUT
The Climate Vulnerable Forums Global Parliamentary Group (CVF GPG) in collaboration with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and the Global Renewables Congress (GRC) is convening an Accountability Summit for parliamentarians at COP28. The Summit will explore the role of parliamentarians and the ways in which parliaments can promote increased accountability to ensure that the decisions and policies in place at both the national and international level are responsive to:

Achieving the aims to limit temperature increases to 1.5°C;

Ensuring implementation of the Sendai Framework to prevent and reduce existing disaster risk by increasing resilience and the ability to adapt; and
-
Enhancing and scaling-up adequate climate finance building on the shortcomings, a posteriori, of the USD 100 billion promise.
KEY INFORMATION
Main objective: to take stock of the policy choices and processes to ensure enhanced political commitment to action.
Participation: Open to all members and observers
Level: Members of Parliament and parliamentary partner organisations and observers
Format: fully in-person event for COP28 attendees
Structure: 2 hours program. The meeting will include high level opening addresses from partner organisations, presentations on the findings of the CVF NDC Traffic Light Assessment Report and the UNDRR Mid-Term Review of the Sendai Framework, a panel discussion by members of parliament and statements from Members of Parliament. A parliamentary statement will be issued.
