CARE, CAN International, ACT Alliance and Oxfam, partnered on the #1o5C campaign, demanding greater climate action, calling for “Zero Poverty and Zero Emissions” and highlighting the importance of the 1.5°C long term temperature goal at the European Development Days.
A wandering Eiffel Tower reminded participants of the promises made in the historic Paris Agreement, including the commitment to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Also highlighted were the many benefits of limiting global warming to 1.5°C or less for achieving the sustainable development goals and reducing inequalities.
The European Development Days 2016, the tenth anniversary for the forum, takes place 15-16 June 2016 in Brussels, Belgium. The focus of this year’s forum is the ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’
